About Me

After earning his bachelor of arts in history from Amherst College with cum laude distinction, Scott Kafker attended the University of Chicago Law School where he served as both a staff writer and an associate editor of the University of Chicago Law Review. He earned his juris doctor in 1985, and subsequently embarked on his law career as a law clerk with the honorable Justice Charles L. Levin of the Michigan Supreme Court and the Honorable Mark L. Wolf of the United States District Court of the District of Massachusetts. Scott Kafker went on to work as an associate with the Boston law firm of Foley, Hoag & Eliot; as a deputy chief legal counsel for Massachusetts governor William F. Weld; and as chief legal counsel for the Massachusetts Port Authority.

Scott Kafker joined the Massachusetts Appeals Court in 2001 as an associate justice and has served as a chief justice with the Court since 2015. Over the course of his career, he has authored approximately 1000 decisions on a wide range of civil and criminal litigation.
